How much more obvious do we have to make the suggestion to
download the USB Floppy Enabler on our home page? That's the
only important thing I know about running Max on a G4.

By "can't get the challenge" what do you mean? Does it still
crash?

Subject: Max on New Year's Eve

Hi All -

I am on the technical team at Peabody for this event. We are using two
Buchla Lightnings IIs (modified for greater IR noise rejection by Buchla),
from which we are taking positional data into Max and interpreting it with
our own externals. Actual audio generation is being done by
synths/samplers, not MSP. Forrest Tobey will be performing at
highlights throughout the more than 24-hour long event, playing four
pieces composed for the event by Charles Kim, and a special arrangement
(also by Charles) of Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man. The Max work
was done by myself, David Wetzel, Gustavo de Andrade, Edmund Pirali, and
Forrest.

We're in the midst of making the final tweaks to the system before we head
to NYC - wish us luck!

We perform at: 6:45am on the 31st, 3:45pm, 11:50pm (right before the ball
drops!) and at 6am on the first. We are hoping that at least some of our
music will be carried live on TV.

Jer

Subject: Seasons Greatings and techie question

Hello all,
I want to use an i-book with Max/MSP (good/bad idea). I am led to
understand there is a USB device that will form an audio-in. Is this
true? What about this USB device with a MIDI USB device? Any
experiences of the i-book with these?
I've seen a review of the i-book claiming that the sound quality of
audio-out is rough (through its internal speaker- no surprise; but
also through headphones/line-out). Again, any experiences?
Seasons greatings- this really was a techie question (time for a small
glass of sherry).
Cheers
Rob

Subject: OT: Powerbook G3 & Digigram's VXpocket

After a few years of taking a desktop on the road I've decided to go
for a Powerbook. I'm looking into getting a PowerBook G3 333mHz or
400mHz with Digigram's VXpocket sound card for live audio work. I'd
be happy to hear from anyone who've tried this setup and can give an
opinion as to what PowerBook to get and on software (MSP,
SuperCollider, audio editors,...) and hardware compatibility issues
with this card.

Please reply privately to me (mailto:gilw@actcom.co.il) as i don't
want to bother the rest of the list. Thanks.
