Subject: saving presets in Application

I wrote at an Application that uses presets but it
seems that new presets can not be saved in an
Application. Is there someway to "Save" an
Application or the presets?

After making an application, I have found that all
files that used to be listed as MAX... files now
take on the name of the new Appcation. Is there
some way to avoid this without chagning the
creator post facto and then rebuilding the
desktop.

Subject: GPI control of videonics MX-1?

Hey Maxers-

I was wondering if anyone knew of an object that has been written to
control the MX-1 via the serial port. The following was taken from the LEV
list:

>I don't know of anyone who's written an object for it, but you could write
>a patch that sent the correct opcodes for the MX-1 out the serial object of
>Max, yes.
>- --

Does anyone know if this object in fact exists? This would give the ability

to switch live inputs via max/nato. Sound exciting to anyone? Any
information regarding this and other video siwtcher would be grealty
appreciated. Thanks.

Does anyone have experience with the new 400 mhz Powerbooks with USB ports,
MAX, and a Griffin GPort USB to serial convertor with say a MIDI Timepiece
serial interface? How realible is this setup using a USB to serial
convertor? Griffin Technologies says they work flawlessly.

Thanks!

during the preparation 4 the live perfomance @tokyo in FEB8th 2k..
http://people.goplay.com/webdj/elh.html

came up with the idea to
link our web-sites in a micro-harmonic-oriented way
would like to call it a:

"FLOATING ROOTS" web

and now have

4 csound "orc&sco" people
http://come.to/my-princess

and

4 self-algo-comp-app people & files-as-a-result contribution
http://kiss.to/my-head

on the net

What I mean by these are ... I'm asking 4 you talented people to
contribute your overtone(or maybe fractal is also nice)-oriented-files
related to the Hz-structure mentioned on my ROOT site ... and that'll
make us HD-DJ excellent(or better than "done by myself" preparation)
things at the performance..
And if I could prepare or suggest an open co-linking-oriented syetem
as the seed of the microtuning-oriented-web ...
Yes I'm not the only one who "could do that performance"..
and MY site doesn't always have to be the ROOT..
If this site-linking-system become mature...
ROOTs will FLOAT on the net as a WEB
and people can CHOOSE their own "root & overtones" things
and loop them together os improvise with their samplers
and spend a happy minimal life..

BUT

as U might have guessed..

both beginning sites are at this moment "EMPTY"
I myself will gradually upload my thangs over there
---yes I will ... because I'll have to prepare 4 the performance anyway---
Please cantribute something 4 the web
4 example
a page of "useful MSP-app"+"what kind of harmonic structure it
creates"+"how 2 handle the parameters" are also welcome!!

THANX

Subject: the oneport two step

Here is a familiar old OMS problem.
I just got an old Duo280c (sys7.5.3) to run a MAX patch to control my DSP
hardware
and cant get OMS to find its modem port.
I've turned off appletalk, set the Express Modem to internal, zapped
parameter ram,
and removed the Assistant Toolbox extension (apples workaround).
These one port machines are a pain, well known to hide their ports. I can't
get it working.
Ibegan to think the unthinkable, that it was a hardware problem.
Yet, when I told it that I have a Midi Time Piece ( a lie )
the LED's on the simple Midi Translator ii that is really on the port
start to blink in predictable ways with midi in from the world and out from
max.
This seems to indicate the port is working a bit, though still no way to
get a connection.
I tried using a setup file from another machine which had a simple modem
port as the interface,
a trick which has worked before when OMS Setup refused to load the standard
interface.
But it doesnt work this time.
When "tested" in OMS it gives the "overrun/or port unavailable" error message.
I have verified the physical interfaces and cables on other machines.
Puzzled (not really the word I would use)

hi joel,

one thing about the Duos is that MIDI/OMS sure doesn't like the internal
Modem, not even if it's been disabled in software. I seem to recall that
this goes so far that simply installing the Modem software once trashed the
MIDI capabilities of the machine for good.
I won't claim there's no software way around this, but I would suggest
removing the modem and maybe a fresh system install (7.5.3 sounds good to
me).

IF however you find a software solution let me know so I can put my modem
back in my little Duo.

cheers,
s

Does anyone know how to use the Spat~ object. I recently received the
jimmies, which of course comes with the Spat. Did IRCAM forget to include
necessary objects to make it work ( 0-room+,0-reverb+ things like that)

thanks much
