Subject: USB MIDI convertors

I am shopping around for a new computer to run MAX. Does anyone have a
review for the GPort Universal Serial Adaptorthat is suppose to be 100 %
USB compatible with MIDI devices and the new fast powerbooks?

Actually, I think Max IS a demented cousin! But, you know, good demented.

Does anyone out there have experience of Lucid Technology's PCI24 card with
I bought one a while back and have had loads of problems using it with
Cubase & Peak; the sound manager and ASIO drivers just don't seem to be able
to co-exist on the same hard drive. Unfortunately Lucid's tech support seems
to be non-existant; they don't answer my e-mails and the developement of new
drivers seems to lag about a year behind OS/product updates. I only have an
evaluation copy of MSP, so I'm wondering if the card is going to give me
trouble if I ever get round to getting the full monty.
Nice to see people being so positive about Max's future; what could be

optimistic than folks compiling a wish list for the next version ?
Here are my requests: a larger colour palette for objects, and transparent
text boxes. And there's got to be an easier/more reliable way to sync with
other midi apps.
As for the future of OMS, perhaps Apple should take it on as part of the
MacOS ?
