Johan,

Could you explain a bit more the modification you have in mind?
The patch below is how I envision modulating the slope of phase
modulation.

Completely true.
Eric, one question: when the frequency (left inlet) is extremely low, and
the modulation index (right inlet) is a sine with a high frequency, the
signal (outlet) extinguishes with a cycle depending of the extremely low
frequency (left inlet). This could be avoided by adding another phasemod~
which is out of phase half a cycle. Is it possible to do this? I noticed
that everytime Max/MSP is started, all oscillators initiate (indeed) to
phase zero.

This is the G3 300 MHz (Wallstreet). I bought it a few months ago, even
though the new G3 series was already available, because it has a serial
port, and ADB port, a huge harddisk (8 MB), a wonderful screen - and it is
blazing fast. Running MAX/MSP on it is real fun. BTW, the sound quality of
the audio-out is much better, compared to my old PB3400. Nearly no noise,
and one can get rid of the hum by using a ground-loop isolator (I am using
the one that you gave me once in Vienna - thanks again!)

Maybe you can get it used.

The fastest pre-usb powerbooks is the so-called Wallstreet models -- 2nd

this generation is 333 mHz G3 -- I have the 300 mHz model and it makes a
very good DSP machine (or video for that matter)

Robb Lovell, in collaboration with David Z., made a 'Serial2' object.

Description:

"serial2 is based on David Z's serial object, but allows the MAXer to open
more than
two serial ports, such as might be on expansion cards.
It also is able to open old greensprings expansion card ports.
It is only available for power pc.
The object uses a different convention to specify ports, instead of
using letters like 'a', 'b', and 'c', you use '0', '1', and '2'.
You can also specify the driver name for the serial port if that is needed..=

=2E"

You will find the object there:

<ftp://ftp.ircam.fr/pub/forumnet/max/PPC/Robb_Lovell_objects.sea.bin>

The 'say' object by Robb is now inside the 'Robb_Lovell_objects' folder.

the PB1400c is 166mhz 603e, 128k l2 cache, very nice active matrix screen,

I noticed this bug before. It seems, that detonate do not close the file

Is it possible to set the modified date of Max itself to some time in the

upsets?

What creator IDs are "safe" to use, since you can't guarantee what else
will be running on a target user's machine?

Subject: PB 1400

I had some bad experiences with audio on a PB 1400 and, after lots of
questions and research, concluded that the 1400 "can't do asynchronous IO,
that is needed for disc-based digital audio" - at least from its internal
hard disk. I did get it to play back audio from an external SCSI zip, but I
don't know how many tracks you could get with a fast SCSI drive. Also, I
don't know if the "no async IO" problem applied only to a 1400 without L2
cache or was basic to the machine.

Anyway, treat with caution. For what it's worth, Digidesign did not approve
the 1400 for ProTools Powermix, but did approve the 3400 and, Ithink, 2400.
Best bet would be an immediately-pre-usb G3 powerbook...

Hello

As I received 0.0 answers to my question about the availability of MAX for
the Windows platform, here is a new attempt to get some information (which I
did not receive from Opcode people).

Firstly, I had to switch from Mac to PC, because I needed a platform to run
a program for image synthesis which is not available on the Mac. Since I
plan to let both programs working together, I am waiting now for that Max
for Windows.

Secondly, I am working now on the development on new man-machine interfaces
(microtechnology based: I work at LETI, which is the main french research
lab for microelectronics). We want to implement microfluxgates,
microaccelerators, microgyrometers in miniature devices in order to track
movements of the body (including very thin movements such as lips). MAX that
I have been using for many years, is my best choice for rapid prototyping of
various situations in the use of such interfaces, but unfortunately, my
organisation decided two years ago that only PC platforms are allowed in the
lab. So, "comment faire" ?

Still hoping to get some feedback from MAXers,

Dear All

I'm trying to do devise a patch that will trigger samples using amplitude
threshold triggering. As far as I can see thresh~ is the only way to do
this, though I'm finding that it performs erratically and has no control to
inhibit immediate retriggering (thresh~ on the ISPW had something like
this...)Are there any other objects out there that would be better?

Thanks

<fontfamily><param>Geneva</param>Hi people,

I have a problem in using Max on my computer, a Yosemite G3. As you
know, I cannot open Max Application because Mac Os doesn't recognize
Max's Authorization Disk. I think I tried invane many drivers to solve
the problem, but I finally understood that the solution is to obtain
the "Challenge Response" code. I purchased Max package over 1 year ago
but I sent (via regoular mail) my registration card only the last
August. Now, I 'm waiting Opcode's reply (ZZ number) to have access to
Opcode tecnical support page in order to obtain Max "Challenge
Response" code...:-(

There is someone who can help me to solve this problem in quickly way?

thank you

Subject: Font size

Some time ago, David Z suggested how to make font sizes larger than the 36
point that is allowed in MAX. His example, using a comment box, works fine.
The problem is with trying to make a number box bigger than 36 points. The
same method does not work. Numbers above 36 only provide 36 point type in
number boxes.

Has anyone dealt with this and found a way to do this? Thanks!

Greetings all wise and wonderful composers and programmers! I am quite
pleased to finally own MSP, but I've been plagued by clicks and pops. I'm
trying to think through a compressor object, but maybe somebody has already
done it? Thank you in advance.

erick

P.S. - I've put a fairly simple FM patch on my website as a standalone or a
patch. Not very complex, but it is a good little app for showing off the
power of Max and MSP! The real-time FFT display is a real hack, but it is
the only way I know to get rid of the negative frequencies. Other ideas?

Max bestows eternal youth.
There's no problem having 2 or more QT windows next to eachother, working
simultaneously. The only nuisance under System 8.5 or later is the platinum
window frames.

The rumor I have heard is that there is a port underway. When it will

The only way to be guaranteed an actual, absolutely safe creator ID
is to register one of your own with Apple Developer Services. I don't
have the URL handy, but maybe someone else does. In other words,
professional app developers register a creator ID, like 'max2', and
then no one else is supposed to use it (and no one would want to,
because then you run into the problems you have experienced).

Just because you do register one doesn't mean some other maxer somewhere
else won't inadvertantly use it for their next experiment :-)
