this will clear things up.

Subject: Powerbooks

After hearing of USB/new OS woes using the new machines, I just heard of a
cheap price on Powerbook 5300s (and I think some 1400s too). Could I get
a quick response on how these machines are for Max and, given a G3 upgrade
card, MSP as well? (Also would plan to do some SuperCollider work using
this machine, as well as ProTools PowerMix.)

The idea is to use Sound Manager for recording and monitoring, and if I
get into a situation where hi-quality output is needed, look into a
digital I/O PCMCIA solution.

Subject: Asio and RME

I tried to connect the MSP-ASIO_Driver with the ASIO-Driver of my RME
Digi96pro-Card... and got an error-message.
Does anybody know wether MSP is compatible with the RME-Card?
Thank you

Subject: ADB-USB

this might seem to veer towards off-topic, but I can't resist:
Several times I have heard of the lament of the lack of an ADB port on the
B/W G3, and also of Apple's plans to rid themselves of this 'antiquated'
technology. But I swear my G3 350 B/W has one built in! I plug in my old
keyboard, wacom, etc. just to make sure I'm not way off base- no
problem.... Maybe I bought some weird 'interim' model early on?

ps- for the sake of integration two basic MAX questions:

If I've begun to draw a segmented patch cord and decide I want to stop, is
there any way (save connecting to an object) that I can 'escape' the
drawing process?

  1. Is there a way to 'auto-segment', 'simplify layout', or 'clean up '
    patch cords?

Stefania Serafin's "kastro~" (using kar+strong alg.) object can now be
found there:

A new "say" object, by Robb Lovell, for PPC only, wich speaks sentences
passed through max messages, was put there:

XG-MIDI-Tools1.0, a library of abstractions to deal with the Yamaha XG
Extended General MIDI format was finally put there:

Again, If you have some Max objects you'd like to put on the server, just
e-mail meee.

Subject: apparent/hide windows

I have problems to see some subpatches of Spat : the sub windows are open,
but I can't see them or reach them. It seems like they are opened out of
the screen. How can I do to access them ?
One precision : on 2 different computers, sub windows with 3 brackets ([[[)
don't appear, and on a third computer, they appear but those with 4
brackets don't appear. I tried to save the patches with the
"3-bracket-sub-windows" apparent, and opened the modified patch on one of
the two first computers, and nothing had changed.
Thank you for advice !

Greetings MAXers,

Sorry for the delay in the last few days of MAX list messages, the
Music faculty's mail server was down for a couple of days. It seems
to be up and running again (well, for now anyway).
