Subject: Comas (,) in umenus

Hi,

Is there any way to use comas (,) in umenus? For example I want "Bill,
Sam" to show up in a umenu. I tried surrounding the coma and the words
with a set of (option ] & option, shift ]), but this did not work.
Anyone out there with any ideas on this? Email me direct or the list.

Thanx

Jon Witte

As a neanderthal MAX 3.0 user I've never even heard of Folder, so I'd
have to guess: a problem having a digit as the start of a directory
name?

Just use the old backwards backslash, i.e.:

Bill\,Sam, Mike\,Joe, Apples\,Oranges

will put the following in the umenu:

Bill, Sam
Mike, Joe
Apples, Oranges

The backwards backslash works for any symbol that is a "reserved" Max
Symbol, i.e. semi-colons, dollar signs, etc.

If you find yourself doing this frequently, I would recommend getting a
great little shareware package called FileTyper. This really great tool
allows you to make 'AutoTypers' that can scan folder recursively and change
file types to whatever you want. It is also smart software so you can tell
it to only change files of a certain type, or with a certain file
extension. It is really easy to use, and has easily save me hours of work
(and it's only $10!!!).

You can get more info on FileTyper at:

P.S. I don't own any shares in FileTyper, I just really like it.

Hi there,
Has anyone ported REV4~ to MSP world? If so (and you're
willing to share), please email - I'll post to the list if there's
interest.
thanks very much,
Michael

Subject: MAX list CD Updater.

Greetings MAXers,

I'm just about to do my final burn to the MAX list CD, and I hope to have
it sent to manufacturing within a week and a half.

The MAX list CD has 14 audio tracks and 18 MAX/MSP patch or application
submissions, and there is some really fantastic stuff on this CD. It looks
like the CD will be free (which means you pay the postage, that's all), I
will know all the final details by the time I send it off to manufacturing.
I will be working on updating the MAX list www pages for the next week, and
all information should be posted there soon.

I am just finalizing a license agreement (to protect the rights and
material of those who have submitted), and if anyone has any experience in
this, your suggestions are very welcome (please!). I am thinking of
something like:

"The Max list CD is Freeware. This means that it is freely distributed but
all copyright remains with the author/composer of the respected work. This
CD may be copied and freely distributed providing that it is copied in its
ENTIRETY (BOTH the Audio and the CD ROM portion). No work may be copied
from this CD for distribution without expressed written consent from the
author/composer. For non-personal or commercial use of any of the software
on this CD, contacting the author for consent is strongly suggested before
it is used (the author's email address is included in the folder with their
software)."

Again, if anyone has any problems or suggestions regarding this, please
contact me very soon. I will also be emailing a questionaire to those who
have submitted to complete as much as they are comfortable with (for liner
notes).

A big thank you to the following people for their contribution of works:

Marc Battier
Roald Baudoux
Oeyvind Brandtsegg
Lars Brondum
Andrew Brouse
Ray Brunelle
James Correa
Robin Davies
Tommy DOG

Stephen Kay
Jean Paul Laurent
Michael McNicholas
Garth Paine
Manuel Poletti
Kurt Ralske
Michal Seta

If your name is not here and you believe it should be, please contact me
right away (there is a good chance that I have your material, and it is on
the CD, I might have just missed your name on my list).

Subject: type 1 midi files and detonate

howdy,

i may be an idiot, but i can't get detonate to save type 1 midi files
correctly. when i send the message:

write dumb.mid 0 1

i get a type 1 file, but all the tracks become simply replicas of what is
on track 1, which is not very useful. am i missing an update?

sorry if this has been addressed already.

tak,
dan
