Subject: Folder

I have a very hard time with the folder object, and I wonder if this is a
bug.

In the Max folder is a folder called Samples. It is listed in the File
Preferences paths. Within the Samples folder are folders with names like
130bpmloops, and Basses.

I can not get Folder to recognize folders within the Samples folder. Other
folders of samples that are not nested work fine. But ":Samples:122bpmloops
generates an error. So does "Samples:122bpmloops".

I can access these files with 'open' messages to buffer~s and the like. But
Folder is being very stuborn.

 Does anyone know why?

Jeff

from the email it sounds like you were able to get the NeXT files onto your
PC and into the aiff file format using Cool Edit (which is an amazing tool
btw)...
I am also assuming that they play back correctly on the PC but when you
transfered them to the Mac (via ethernet, ftp, whatever etc) that they
weren't recognized by Max/MSP...
this is easily solved (I've done alot of cross platform shuffling) by
opening the aiff in ResEdit, adding a resource, changing the type/creator
fields to the appropriate types ("type" = AIFF // "creator" could be any
application...Sd2a is Sound Designer II and SDHK is for SoundHack...note:
pay attention to upper case lower case)...
after you've done this, save the file and try opening it in Max/MSP
again...this usually works but if it doesn't your file might be corrupted...
hope this helps

Happy April y'all,

is there a cd object for 68k macs that lets you control volume? We've
tried a few versions of the object, and all except one from Max 3.0
cause the machine (a performa 475) to crash.

Also, has anyone experience of using Teac SCSI drives? We've bought a
couple, but there's no audio coming out the back - even though it's
coming out the headphone jack. We got these from Tech Direct in the
UK, who have so far proved to be somewhat less than the ideal customer
service corporate machine (anyone dealt with them?)

As always, your comments are greatly appreciated.
