>anyone know of a way to reduce the bit depth of an .aif file/adc in MSP?

You can do it on an existing file in Sound Edit by changing the depth
settings and using "Save as...".

Here's a bug I discovered yesterday that I had been hearing
vague reports about for the past few years but never
experienced myself.

As you may know, the search path can contain aliases, allowing
you to have objects and patcher files in other folders
besides your Max folder. In version 3.5.9-8, you can even
alias the file below your Max folder and the search path
will break the circularity of the reference. But what you
can't do is have aliases to other volumes.

I will get this in as a fix if and when we do another update.

Double IR-sound position & pitch control - Of interest maybe?
I read all of the matrix & distribution mails and would like to tell that we
have an interactive installation where through using two close IR beams from
a Roland SR808 we are manipulating sound around an eight speaker array
through body movement. The samples are originally my Harley and rain stick
and the body movement affects the pitch and position around the array.
If you want more info of the MAX patch, harwares etc etc let us know.
