I'm having trouble logging on to the IRCAM ftp site. I tried this
address:

ftp://ftp.ircam.fr/pub/forumnet/max

for several days and I couldn't get in. Is it locked out to anonymous
users? Is there any other Max ftp site out there? Something in the USA
perhaps?

There are many 24 bit AD/DA converters that sell for much less than =
an ADAT (Frontier Designs, Korg, MIDIMAN, etc).

These converters would likely work better than the 2408 because =
most of these converters have balanced pro outputs instead of the =

bc they have 24 bit I/O instead of 16, 18, or 20 bit (depending on =
which ADAT you get). Besides, I'm guessing you'll probably wait at =
least a year for anything to happen (if it will) between the 2408 =
and MSP.

huh, i beleive this popped up recently, but i don't remember what was the
final story (i should have paid more attention!). I'm trying to store the
number 11.8 in a coll, and it gets "unrounded" to 11.799998. It is
particularily annoying because it is a number that ultimately gets
displayed.

and there's no need to make a coll to see it. Just type 11.8 in a number
box and duplicate the box.

any cues? running 3.5.9-3 with OS8.1 on a PPC750, if that matters...

Korg do companion AtoD and DtoA converter units, so you don't have to
buy a whole ADAT! Also there are increasing numbers of digital desks
with ADAT interfaces. I use mine with Yamaha 02R/03D and it works very
well.

Does anyone have any experience with the KORG D/A companions? Can you buy
just the D/As and not have to pay for the A/Ds? Cost? The one thing that
seems really nice about the 2408 is the ability to convert from ADAT to
TDIF all built in to the breakout box, but without MSP support, I really
can't see me buying it.

I don't want to burden you with more work David, but do you have any
guesses when (if) the 2408 will be supported (that is if MOTU ever ships
the thing)? Otherwise, perhaps the 1212 might be the way to go.

Also, a while back there was someone who was doing a survey on removable
media (JAZ Vs SyJet).... Any results?( I've totally given up on my SyJet).

Fellow MIDIots,

Here's a nagging little problem. Lately, some of the Button objects in my
patches
haven't been displaying properly. Instead of a square with a circle inside I
just
get a square-it looks like a Toggle in the zero position. They still operate
as
they should, it only affects the display. I'm using Max 3.5.9 on a PPC 604
150mHz
with plenty of RAM assigned to Max. This isn't a real big deal, but it can
cause
confusion sometimes. What gives?

Thanks,

Ed Hartley

I too have seen this problem - it's a bug. Sometimes you can make it go
away
by replacing the offending bangs.

Has anyone experienced strange behavior using "umenu"?

I've had entered items not appear at all, disappear after I've edited
other items, & the whole damn program disappear when using it. I mean
REALLY disappear! no error type XX or freezes - just POOF!

maybe there is an update I'm missing?

604e - 200Mhz - 128 Mb
Max 3.5.9 FAT

help would me much appreciated.

Yes, seem to recall something like that, but it's been som months since I
last experienced it.
I don't know what causes this, just wanted to tell you that you're not
alone :-)

Yes, I've also had problems. But make sure that the "number of items"
field is set correctly. If you have it set to 64 and enter more items,
weird behaviour is sure to result.
