Subject: Serial Object

I'm using the serial object to retrieve data from a Polhemus Fastrak (3D
magnetic sensors). It had worked great with one sensor, but I plugged in
two sensors and have to retrieve a total of 96 bytes at a time. But I'm
only recieving 64 bytes. Is this a limit to the serial object or the cache
that it sets up to receive data?

Subject: lcd object

i would like to make a patch that could accurately record the drawn shapes.

Is there an internal limitation in lcd object to report x,y when drawn into
the box?

at certain rate the output of x,y position seem to drop out points in
between.

Subject: MSP mutes

Im trying to construct an MSP patch in which i can turn the audio off and
on in various subpatchers. I have tried using both 'mute~' and 'pcontrol'
but have in both cases ended up getting a changeable bizarre tone feeding
through when everything is supposedly off. This rogue audio is definitely
emanating from the subpatcher. Has anyone had similar problems or
solutions......Thanks in advance for any advice.

Subject: Can't get rid of crashes

I still crash the mac with MSP
when trying to control sound parameters whith real time controllers.
Sometimes it works properly for a while,
but the next minute a nice Error n=B0 11 comes
I don't see any apparent reason.
Have you experienced the same thing.
Is OS 8 a solution ?

I run MSP on a PPC7200 with 54Mo RAM OS 7.5.3/II
+ Audiomedia III (including Direct I/O MSP Audiodriver
+ DigidesignSoundDrivers + Digisystem Init)
+ Steinberg midi intreface & OMS.

Subject: vst plugins w/msp

Dear Max List people:

I am impressed with the vst capabilities in msp, and was wondering if
anyone on the list knows of the availability of free plugins from various
sources. As I'm sure many of you know, these vst plugins can be quite
expensive $$.

I visited this site:
 http://steinberg-us.com/products/cubase/vst/plugins_roundup.html
and found two or three free plugins, but most of the others consist of
limited demo versions. Does anyone have any pointers to other such items?

Thank you.

Subject: typedmess problem with 3.5.8 PPC

Hi MAX users!

I'm currently porting my UIMgr object (see
http://www.tk.uni-linz.ac.at/~gueob/software.html/) to MAX 3.5.

In this object, I use the typedmess function to send a message (extracted
from a binbuf) to the object itself.
With the 68K version of MAX, it works fine, but with the PPC version, I get
the error message "error: UIMgr: message too long (node)" in the MAX
window, when the following message is sent:

  node 0 TestNode TestTpl 2000

The node method is defined/implemented as follows:

  addmess((method) UIMgrNode, "node",
      A_LONG, A_SYM, A_SYM, A_DEFLONG, A_DEFSYM, A_DEFLONG, A_DEFLONG, 0L);

void UIMgrNode(UIMgr* x, long nodeID, Symbol* nodeName, Symbol*
templateName,
long pictID, Symbol* disable, long ax, long ay)
  {
    ...
  }

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Guenter
