Subject: Capture and saveing

Hello Max people,

I have been trying bulk sysex dumps from my sound module into Max. At
present the appropriate object to use for this purpose seems to be
"capture". The only problem is that (with the version of capture that I
have) there seems to be no read or write functions which defeats the
purpose of the excercise.

I have tried using coll which is to slow at storing the large sysex data
and also runs out of memory. So I was wondering if anyone has tried to do
bulk dumps and if there is an object which would serve my purpose.

Subject: Externals

As we stand at the crux of a new year and are starting to get bombarded
by the media with everyones "Best ... of '97" lists the thought occured
to me: has anyone done a "Top 10" Max Externals?
Given to size of this list I'm sure there are alot of users who have a
'fave.
So my proposal is to set up some sort of 'polling place'
The easiest way to do it would be for some fool to volunteer their email
address and manualy tabulate the results (and I'm not exactly
volunteering here; but if everyone decided to direct their votes to me I
guess I'd have do something with em).
The better way would be for someone with some server space and HTML &
cgi-bin scripting skills to set up a form submission page (hell add a
good parser & some dynamic-HTML and we could have an on-line election!)
Maybe the folks at Opcode ;)
Anyway just thought I'd throw out the idea.

Wishing all a Happy impending '98
RD
