BUYO-BUYO-IGOR @ SaRiGaMa's Oil Vending Orchestra writing..

Sorry if this is too FAQ.
How should I calculate the message sent from the 'xbendout' object?
I want to make MAX play Just Intonation music.
I'm used to translating natural harmonic into cent oriented bend data
but MAX doesn't seem to handle 'bending' that way.

Two MAX app. --- "Realtime-tuner" and "GneneticRhythm1.1,p" --- played
a bunch of rolls for the preparance for the performance I held on
Dec.19th. Creating Minimals by the latter and making it JI oriented by
the tuner made it really sound Orientaaaaaal. Would you tell us more
about how to edit the SEED itself > Mr. Sakonda?

BTW.
Is someone using QT-atomic-editor...?
I succeeded to save the Extention and rebooted...but don't know how to
use the new instruments frommy GM oriented sequensers.
Looking forward to make this happen because I want to have the sound
it self to be microtuned when playing microtuned music.
I'm still using 68k machine..gosh! wanna try that DSP-MAX!

BTW.2
I've also started a cheezy project that asks for the site-visiters to
contribute a pitch bend data for each diatonic note.
This project is not fully interactive but I am planning to upload the
MIDI thangs and Sound-file thangs on my site and will report about
that to the contributors.

Subject: timeline

 hello List...

I've been playing with the timeline for a few hours (in 3.5.8), and now
have
some questions before starting really using it:

     - is there a way to "lock" a timeline? I still have a little difficulty
with the "dashed outline" thing.

     - some things seem a little fragile. Graphic updates are not always
right
(not running in overdrive), and my little experimentations ended with
<>. Am i just unlucky? or is
the timeline not rock-solid yet?

     - strangely, <>, when the
docs says it should write the current timeline to disk.

     - the track colors in an edetonate don't match the colors in the
timeline's "preview". Not dramatic, but if that could be fixed, it would
make
color-coding more usefull.

     - i did not see much traffic over timeline on the list (apart from it's
buggy debut). Anyone using it out there? Or more interesting: anyone used it
and decided not to rely on it?

A nice feature is that you can select a bunch of int objects and hit cmd-i
to
get each object's info dialog (successively). The same thing in standard max
patches would be great (or alternatively, one dialog that sets all the
selected objects to the same settings).

Cheers (and an happy new year),

                                   Alex Burton.

Subject: of presets, tables and inlets...

 hello List, again...

i've built a patcher around a table. I'm trying to store configurations of
the table with each instance of the patcher (without external files) (table
name is #1_internal, so each named instance gets it's own table; "don't
save"
bit is set). In the mother patch, i tried connecting a preset to an inlet of
the patcher in turn connected to the table. This works fine, but once the
mother patch is closed and reopened, the preset has no more effect on the
table (and the same preset works on a test table directly connected)...

 anyone?

                                   Alex Burton.

Subject: msp scope?

it seems like msp objects in a bpatcher work, but msp objects do not work
if i save them into separate file and type the file name into an object
box.

are there some msp scope rules of thumb?

thanks -
jhno
