Uhh, excuse me, but...
The Preferences dialog of ResEdit allows one to turn off the "cute but
tiring splash screen", in addition to other useful things. It seems
many people (myself included at one time) assume ResEdit does not have =

Preferences...

[snip involved ResEdit voodoo...]

I don't see exactly what it is you're fixing. When 2 apps
have the exact same creator ID (such as Max and LoShuMax, in the example)=
,
all you can do, by any type of voodoo or desktop rebuilding, is make one
take precedence over the other. You can have documents of type 'max2'
launch either Max or LoShuMax. There is no selectivety involved. You
cannot have some documents launch Max, and some documents launch the othe=
r
app. The creator type is the key.

Apologies to those who've seen this before, or seen similar news recently.

As a result of government cut-backs, the Dean of Humanities at La Trobe
Unviersity (Melbourne, Australia), Graeme Duncan, has decided that the
Music Department has to go. Never mind that it's one of the major centres
of experimental and computer music in the country. Never mind that its
courses are more popular than ever. Never mind a formal agreement made
with staff that comsultations on such matters would be sought. Never mind
the fact that the Faculty of Humanities commissioned a review of the
department and didn't wait long enough to receive it. Never mind that it
was done at such short notice that prospective students arrived to audition
(some having travelled a great distance to get there) only to be told that
they needn't have bothered even applying.

Am I mad? Hell, yes. I'm furious. You may be assured that this isn't
over yet. I urge that those who know of La Trobe's work and reputation
protest in the loudest possible terms. (And if you don't know about La
Trobe, you're welcome to anyway.) See the above URL for details.

Thank you for your time.

Just letting you know:

If anybody is interested in Intelligent lighting control, I made a patch and
 have
a system down. I bought some Lightwave Trackspots. But instead of dropping
a
 few
grand on the good controller, I got the NSI IF 501 'interface' for about
 $300.00.
The IF 501 will (among other things) convert MIDI to DMX(what the
trackspots
 and
most other lights use as protocol). Then it took about 2 days to create a
patch
to emulate the hardware controller.

If anybody is interested in seeing the patch, let me know.

P.S.

Use ResEdit on ResEdit to get rid of the splash screen :)

I'm interested in the light control patch. Do you have any URLs for the
light gear manufacturers?
