Time for some weird questions:

1. Has anyone renamed their startup folder something other than max-startup?

2. Has anyone filled up all six slots where you can specify
folders to search for patchers and other files?

If you can answer either of these questions "yes" please send me
e-mail. You will not be bothered with any further questions.

Thanks,

David Z.

The difference is the 3.0 multislider produces continuous output even if you
are not dragging. On consulting the manual I decided that this must have
been
either a bug or a feature which they rectified. Unfortunately my program
used
this feature which means now that I can't use it I have to change several
help pages. Don't you hate it when people fix stuff which wasn't broken ?

Is there some kind of problem distributing Max outside US?

I have tried to order an upgrade since July. Without
any success. Phone and mail orders to the Swedish
distributor are ignored. Nothing happens.

I tried to order direct from Opcode, but they refused
to take my order and referred me to the swedish
distributor. I told them that I already tried this,
Opcode said they would talk to the swedish rep
and come back, nothing happened (surprise!). I
emailed Opcode once again, no answer.

Should I order from IRCAM or what is the problem
with Opcode? I have a legitimate copy of Max registered
in my name and complete with all disks. I only need
an upgrade.

How right you are - I verified this today. However, I'm of the opinion t=
hat =

an object that continues to spew output when you're simply holding a slid=
er =

motionless and not moving it is not operating correctly, and hence should=
 be =

fixed. I guess the creator(s) agreed.

I can't imagine why you would want this continuous output, other than to =
make =

sure it sends at lest something even when clicked on without moving anyth=
ing. =

I dik'd around with it a bit but couldn't see a workaround, since if you =
click
on a slider and it sends nothing, then you can do a kluge to make it star=
t =

continously sending.

One thing you could maybe try is to have the window with the multislider =
in it
store the output (list) of the multislider in a "v" object, and then when=
 the =

window is brought to the front, by using "active" you could send out the =
last =

stored values of the multislider with a bang. So anytime a user brought =
that =

particular editor to the front, you'd be guaranteed the values in the =

multislider would be sent at least once, even if the person clicks and ch=
anges
nothing. Of course, they'll be sent even if the person looks at the =

multislider and doesn't click on anything. But I didn't say it was perfe=
ct =

:-)

BTW, one pet peave of mine is that I _wish_ people using the digest optio=
n to =

get the list would rename their messages to it to reflect the subject of =
their
post, and not just " RE: Max Digest 11 February to 12 February".
