Subject: Interface for Ichi aiff

Hi Folks,

For those wanting tape deck-style interface controls for the aiff object in
the ichi collection, I have a nifty and colorful set that I just finished.
Actually, they could be used for any tape deck-style control needs, really,
but I designed them with the aiff object in mind. They include a
"record/record pause," "play/pause," "stop," "pause," "record pause,"
"loop," and "new" buttons. Feel free to send me private e-mail requests.
By the way, is there a place for interface controls on the Ircam server??
Also available is an application for mouse-made music. Most of you have
probably made one of these, so you may not need another, but, what the
hell, I thought I'd let you know. It's available at: (click on the "music software" button)

Subject: OS 8 and Max disk authorization

I'm trying out System 8 on my generally flakey Duo 2300c, which I would
like to use in music performance. It definately fixes a lot of things and
seems much more stable than any 7.x variation. However, I quickly found out
my Max installer didn't work. The install-under-System-7.x workaround also
didn't work - starting Max again with System 8 asked for the key disk for
verification, and then promptly crashed. Opcode tech support was surprised,
but I'm not, knowing the 2300c, which still freezes waking up from sleep

I'm posting this because the tech said that no working key disks were
available, but that they would be 'in a couple of weeks'. Interesting
silence on this issue on the Opcode site.

How does one install 3.5 on a powerbook with a removable cdrom? When
installing the software off of the cd-rom, I am prompted to insert the key
disk, but when I remove the cr-rom device itself to do that, the system
goes nuts.

If I try to authorize the HD before installation, I get a Type 5 error and
total system freeze. (even when installing with all extensions off.)

I am using system 8 with 64 meg of ram on a powerbook 3400c/240mhz.

Thanks for any help.
