Jean-Louis Gassee's response to a similar question was:

"The investors invested and we invested on the basis that Be had a valid
business
plan as an independent company. If there is a deal that creates leverage for
both investors--by enabling Apple shareholders to have something that will
advance the interests of the company--fine; if it advances the interests of
our
shareholders--fine. But our business is not predicated on any such deal.
Life
doesn't work that way."

In other words: Before Apple boil water, chop wood and build an OS. After
Apple, boil water chop wood and build an OS.

I think that should be the last of this digression. I don't work for Be
and I certainly can't speak for them. I just like their stuff. If you're
really interested, why not ask Jean-Louis himself?

Not me.

Is there anyplace with the max web client application up and running?

I believe Opcode's has been down since Dec 96, and there's absolutely no
hope of getting IRCAM to run it as a service to Max users. Yes, I've asked,
and the reply basically boiled down to: 'Opcode-Max has absolutely nothing
to do with Ircam.'

So, I guess it's up to some hip University to sponsor the max web client,
if indeed people are really interested.

Does anyone have experiences with a Powerbook 5300 together with Max 3.5?
Are there any known problems?

Thank you for any info

Subject: X10 again

Time has come to actually use X10 for something.
I am very interested in doing this and have already been playing with X10
devices hooked up to an ICube. Now I'd like to get one of those X10-mac/pc
interface boxes.

Is there a particular one that anyone's had experience with?
Recommendations?

Thanks,

Issac

I'm using a PB5300 w/ Max 3.5.X. Works swell, all things considered,
Especially valuable for live performance work - which I do a lot of.

Hi Maxers

I have been less than faithful to reading the list regularly, and was
wondering if there are
any digital audio playback objects for PPC. AiffPlayer doesn't work on
mine, as I recall, and snd is a bit inflexible. What other options are
there now or on the horizon?? Is AiffPlayer being ported?
