Not really. All this does is allow you to have a uniquely named "Max"
Preferences file, which remembers things like the last setting of
OverDrive, etc. You can't write your own data to it, such as the last
settings of various menus in your app.

Please excuse this "commercial" posting, but this equipment may be of
interest to those working in multichannel surround sound:

An older LCS system has been decommissioned and is available for sale,
either in toto or as two (or possibly more) subsystems. The hardware
consists of:

        1 LC-16 16x8 automated mixer (originally $3900)
        10 LM-84 automated 8x4 matrices (originally $3000 apiece)
        2 LP-6 power supplies (originally $650 apiece)

1 Centris 650 computer with 20 MB RAM

This hardware is of the first generation of LCS. All inputs, outputs, and
throughputs are balanced TRS 1/4" connectors. Mixing is accomplished by
MIDI control of VCAs.

The liquidator of the system is entertaining offers in the range of 1/3 to
1/2 the original cost.

If interested, reply via personal e-mail.

Yes! And then, if only we could have Braille patch cords for us color-blind
people :-)
