Hi, I am unfortunately having the same problems, which makes Max 3.5
unusable in performance situations. Max 3.5 crashes - not every time,
but perhaps every one out of 5 - when I open or save a file. Also when
it´s done from within Max.
I run a 7600/132 with all extensions off (except OMS and Quicktime).

Any ideas?

No, you wouldn't. I use it since 2 years and now with Max 3.5.1 and OMS
2.3.1 and it works perfectly. The only thing I hardly regret is that I
cannot succeed in using Studio 3. OMS cannot recognize it because the
serial/modem port I think...

Jeff,
Many off the shelf cheapo audio compressors have a contact closure output
that triggers when sound is sensed. Alternately, a company called Radio
Labs
makes a series of little modules called Stick Ons that include a voice
acivated switch. Markertec carries them or we can order them too (cheaper
to
find it yourself). After that, run the output into a Midi Solutions
footswitch (We sell for $79) that allows you to program a midi message to be
sent out. Presto, you have a midi message triggered by an audio sensing
source.

Subject: Max crashing w/ sysex dumps

I've been having trouble with Max crashing when I send it large sysex dumps
from my Ensoniq DP/2 effects processor. I'm trying to record these sysex
dumps into a seq object. It works if I just send one preset at a time, but
if I send a whole bank I run into problems. First OMS will report a serial
overrun error and then sometimes Max will crash with either an
"unimplemented trap" error or type 28 error. I think the problem is
somewhere in OMS or Max because I am able to receive and send the same
sysex dumps just fine if I use an application that records midi files
without going through OMS.

Does anyone have any ideas?

(I'm running Max 3.5.1 and OMS 2.3.1 on a Performa 6200 (system 7.5.5) and
using a MOTU midi express XT interface set to a 1Mhz transfer rate... I've
tried turning off all extensions except OMS and I still have the problem)

Thanks for any suggestions,
Greg

Hi Greg,

Try turning on (or off) the "Use Apple SerialDMA" checkbox in the OMS
Set-Up Preferences. Hope that helps.
