If I were to buy a second-hand PowerBook 520 for MAX (3.0), OMS (1.2.3),
Vision (2.0.8), Galaxy (1.2.9), MIDI Manager (2.0.2), would I regret it?

There's one going for a decent price here, but I don't want to deal with
another round of PowerBook MIDI problems. Been there, done that.

I believe the 520 is the "blackbird", 68040LC based, not to be confused
with the dog's-breakfast 5300. It comes with 7.5.5, although I'd consider
moving it back OS-wise (to 7.1?) to get rid of some of the recent bloat.

Greetings Maxers,

Jorgen has been having problems posting to the listserv, so I'm posting his

It sounds as if your midin objects have no arguments. If you use OMS, or
built in MIDI driver to make the modem port A and the printer port B you can
place the arguments in your midiin objects... midiin a and midiin b.

OTOH, if you wish to use the same MIDI data (coming in at the same port) in
several different places, you'll need to put patchcords between one midiin
and all other objects that need to use it.

Hope this helps,

I'm currently involved in a co-lab with a MAX-programmer (using
MIDI-guitar, MAX and EPS-gear) and wandered if there's already someone who
has made a MAX based editor for EPS 16+Turbo, EPS CLASSIC and DP-4 ??

if so could you help me with info on where to get in contact with it ???

I read a passing reference in some old documentation about something called
GUS MAX for Windows. Anyone know what this is? Is there a Max emulator or
imitator that runs on Windows?

Is Mr. Sakonda on this list?
My friend talled me about his patch "Genetic Rythm1.1" and it seems to be
something like "just listening to the minimal pattern grow&change and keep

one you like".
Wanna know more!!!!
Any other thing similar to this????

and another Q (just curious)

I'm not a programmer so excuse me if this is too much a "beginner question".
I simply wonder why there is no www-browser-extention kind of thing for MAX-
PLAY(in case of this no MAX-PLAY will be required???). Is it just ridiculous
to hope for MAX to become web-oriented? I learned a little about
but what if MAX could become cross-platformed by only the server (not the
clients) having MAX things on it's HDD....and clients given a chance to
interractive things just by sending simple text-oriented data?
If this is something very hard to do...what are the problems that need
Well some of you may say ...."use it before thinking"...but I'm not rich
enough to buy MAX itself...sorry.
