Hi Jeff

I've got a manual on quicktime which I can email to you. The units of the
QT film represent 1/600 sec. and determine the playing speed, if the movie
is played a its normal rate. I suppose it would be possible to open a movie
on Movie Player, export it into a file of individual picts and re-convert
it into a movie with a different playing speed using ConvertToMovie
(available from internet) - or, maybe, Adobe Premiere can change the rate
of an existing movie.

Still anxiously waiting some feedback regarding problems with counter -
brief recap - on hitting maximum should it not send 1 out of rhs middle
outlet/ on leaving maximum send out a 0.

Why does this not happen in my computer ?

Thanks,

I have completed a text and programming examples that is currently in
production at MIT Press. The book, "Composing Interactive Music: Techniques
and Ideas using Max" will be available in the fall (or so I have been
told). Programming and musical examples by myself and others will be
bundled on an accompanying CD-ROM.

I will make a more formal announcement on this list when the book is
published. I would be happy to field any questions about the book. Please
send mail directly to todd_winkler@brown.edu (not to this list) .

Hey, Jem -- sorry about your problems.

This is an informal list and though David Zicarelli has been
tremendously good about responding to questions, he's not under
any obligation to do so! (And it's a holiday weekend for that
matter.)

There's always a workaround... you could create a box called
Ccounter and just check "by hand" for the maximum yourself.

Or, if you wait a while, perhaps all will be revealed?

Yes, that's true - if it didn't load them, you'd know it by all the "no
such object" errors when trying to load patchers.

The list of externals loaded is shown in the about box in version 3.5.
The list is only designed to impress you with how fast it is
accomplishing a task so as to render the information being provided
utterly meaningless, as is standard for startup dialog boxes these
days. The comments are things that people who wrote external objects
posted to the Max window during the initialization of their objects.
